Therapies

Massage Therapy is the art, philosophy and science of treatment by systematic manipulation of the soft tissues of the body. The Scope of Practice of massage therapy is “The practice of massage therapy is the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissues and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function, or relieve pain.” (Massage Therapy Act of Ontario 1991).

All treatments include a consultation, and continuing consent and communication between the therapist and client to ensure a positive experience. This includes things such as updates in the client's health before the treatment, adjustments to pressure during the treatment, and feedback after the treatment.

  • Therapeutic massage - Specific assessment and treatment of acute or chronic pain conditions
  • Relaxation massage - General treatment to relieve stress and calm the nervous system
  • Cupping - Local suction is created on the skin with the application of silicone or plastic cups to reduce pain and increase range of motion
